Unified English Academy's Advanced English Test Prep Program is for students applying to post secondary schools that require a test of English proficiency for admission. UEA offers courses in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). We teach students the test taking strategies that help them get the highest scores. Through our partners at iLearn Academy, we are able to offer graduates of our programs additional academic assistance services including GRE, GMAT and ACT/SAT test preparation.

Test Prep 1
In the introductory Test Prep course, students will build off the skill sets learned in Intermediate level courses in preparation for the TOEFL and post-secondary academic pursuits. Lesson plans include integration and interpretation of information from a variety of written and oral sources, a developed understanding of idioms and subtleties, utilizing multiple reading strategies to engage in complex text analysis, and synthesizing information from multiple sources to develop a written response. Students will write and edit a variety of documents, including a timed written assignment in appropriate styles and formats. At the end of the course, listening and writing skills will be sufficient to score at least a 3 on each of the TOEFL Integrated Writing Rubrics.

Test Prep 2
At Test Prep Level 2, students continue developing their sophistication with spoken and written communication skills comprehension. Lesson plans will emphasize writing and dictation skills for a variety of academic contexts with increased grammatical fluency. Higher level grammar constructs are introduced into instruction. Students develop strategies for taking timed writing tests and learn to use appropriate writing styles for different purposes and audiences. At the end of the course, listening and writing skills will be sufficient to score a 3 or 4 on each of the TOEFL Integrated Writing Rubrics.

Test Prep 3
In the final course of Test Prep, students further develop communication skills set forth in levels 1 and 2. In this course, students interpret complex charts, graphs, and other visual presentations, use a variety of sentence patterns, new vocabulary and high-frequency idioms in spontaneous conversation, and learn to use reference materials to edit and revise. Lesson plans include researching information from authentic subjects on unfamiliar topics, comprehending dialects and social expressions to understand a variety of purposes, and determining the meaning of figurative language including similes and metaphors. At the end of the course, listening and writing skills will be sufficient to score a 4 or 5 on each of the TOEFL Integrated Writing Rubrics.
